Kerley Family Homes On Leading Edge of New Construction Strategy
April 2010 – After the housing collapse, homes in GA construction all but stopped as it did in many areas around the country. The problems faced by many homeowners were also faced by builders and developers – the market could no longer support the price they paid for the land. As a result, the banks acquired land through foreclosure in every form from

Sterling on the Lake, the award-winning residential community in
Flowery Branch, Ga., has announced a new Tax Credit Program that
will double the savings currently being offered by the U.S.
Government.

Builders Association awarded Mike Smith with the 2009 Builder of the
Year Award. Each year the Builder of the Year Award is presented to
a member of the Greater Atlanta HBA who has demonstrated a
commitment to professional excellence. This award recognizes a
builder for his or her contributions to furthering the goals and
mission of the association through volunteer efforts within the
association and the housing industry and through community and
charitable programs.
Mike Smith is a native of Georgia and grew up in Conyers, an eastern
suburb of Atlanta. He developed an interest in the building business
at a young age, working with his father as a plumber's helper during
summer breaks and in a cabinet shop after school. He enrolled in
Georgia Southern University's Construction Management program and
obtained his degree in 1989. Mike joined Carl Riden Homes which
later became Harcrest Homes in 1992 and became president in 1998 and
sole owner in 2004.
For over thirty years

2009 Georgia Schools Of Excellence
Named
November 2009 - State Superintendent of
Schools Kathy Cox named the 2009 Georgia Schools of Excellence
honoring 27 schools that have shown the greatest improvement or
highest achievement across the state.
The Georgia Schools of Excellence are
honored in two categories. Qualifying schools are chosen from each
Congressional District in the following categories:
- Top 10%: Schools that are in the top 10% as measured by
assessments in reading and mathematics.
- Greatest Gains: Schools that demonstrated greatest continuous
gains in student achievement for the past five years as measured by
assessments in reading and mathematics.

Traton Homes will participate as a featured builder for
HomeAid
Atlanta's sixth annual Project Playhouse fundraiser. Traton's
playhouse along with two others will be awarded through a raffle
drawing with all raffle ticket proceeds benefiting HomeAid Atlanta's
development of supportive, transitional housing for homeless
families and children in the metro Atlanta area.
Traton's playhouse will be a charming nautical cottage. This
meticulously crafted playhouse will be filled with maritime features
that are sure to delight children of all ages. The dynamic exterior
will showcase exquisite handcrafted woodwork, a cedar shake roof and
siding, a stunning turret, and a covered promenade on the front and
rear. Casement windows will feature flounder-shaped shutters, and
the turret is crowned with a copper sailing ship weather vane.
The nautical interior will showcase beautiful teak woodwork, a fish
bowl porthole, deck chairs for seating, a lobster trap serving as a
tea table, and wooden pulleys acting as the mechanical hoist for the
lights and prowl window. Reminiscent of a nineteenth century sailing
ship, the curtains and prowl awning will appear as if they were made
from a ship's sails, with ship pivots serving as curtain rods. In
addition, the turret galley will feature a ship's wheel dining
table.

Crown Communities Announces Donations to Local Veterans and
Rescue Mission
August 2009 -
Crown Communities announces it will donate proceeds from
each closing at Willhaven Estates to the Disabled American Veterans
Local Augusta Chapters and the Garden City Rescue Mission. Each
organization will receive $300 per closing to support the valuable
assistance both provide to the local area.
"Giving back is an important part of our responsibility to our

proud to donate to such worthy and essential causes in the Augusta
area."
The Disabled American Veterans local chapters offer much needed
support to disabled veterans including transport to doctor visits,
therapy sessions and other appointments. Garden City Rescue Mission
provides housing and spiritual guidance to the homeless men, women,
and children of the Augusta area. In addition to supporting these
local organizations, Crown Communities will also provide free home
modifications for the handicapped.
